This is my first post. I started "running" in January 25, 2009. I wanted to do something for my health and for me. I began by looking for a program so I could do a 5K at Disney. I signed up for the 5K so I would be motivated to work toward it. When I first started the program called for me to run 1 minute and walk 2 minutes 3 - 4 times the first week. I couldn't even run the 1 minute more than once!!!! My first attempts were after work on the sidewalks at work. After feeling quite embarrased I decided to run around my house. That worked better and instead of trying the 1mt/2mt I just ran until I got tired and then walked. I just did that for 20minutes three times a week. Tommy made a track through the back wood so I would have a longer course to run. That has really helped.

On February 7th I purchased a Nike + monitor that you wear on your shoe and it records your distance, speed, time, and calories burned on your iPod. My first recording was on February 8th at 1.06 miles - 16 minutes, 24 seconds - 16 min, 03 second mile and my last recording, before the 5K, was on March 5th at 1.57 miles - 20 minutes, 7 seconds and 12 minute, 47 second mile. Granted these are not always continuous running but it is sure an improvement from January. So I am really proud and can tell the difference from when I started. I am really proud and find this running very addictive. I haven't been able to talk myself out of running yet!
